Stressed out? Try having more and better Sex!
Prioritizing pleasure starts with building routines that lead to intimacy. We spend an average of 7hrs / 15min each day dedicated to screen time.
How many minutes can you give up for orgasmic pleasure?
While I intend to break this down in greater detail in a six part series, this week I think we could all use some quick tips to help distract us from the daily grind and election stress.
Building good routines around sex and prioritizing pleasure is time well spent and, chances are, you may be truly happier for it.
Here are 6 steps for cracking the code for more and better sex:
Know Yourself
Fantasize + Communicate
Consume for Pleasure
Move your Body
Free your Mind
Make Time + Show Up
Breaking it down…
First, get to KNOW YOURSELF. Do you have health issues that prevent you from enjoying pleasure? What are you doing to address them? Do medications you take help or hinder your mood and ability to orgasm? As a woman, fluctuating hormones or lack thereof with menopause can prevent or disrupt pleasure. Listen to your body and change your behavior with pleasure in mind. Learn what turns you on and act on it.
Tip: Take charge of your health. Use tracking apps to understand your cycles, fitness and sleep routines.
Think about sex and pleasure, FANTASIZE AND COMMUNICATE. Active imaginations, fantasizing before, during and after sex can help get and keep you in the mood. If you have a partner to play with, try communicating your thoughts, desires, and fantasies. This will be hard to do at first but you will get better with practice.
Tip: Take the oOYes Sex Quiz to find your kinks and explore pleasure with partner(s).
CONSUME FOR PLEASURE. Nope, I am not talking about chips, ice cream, and wine. Eat healthy to feel good. What you put in your body will directly affect your health, mood, energy, and stamina. Depending on your age, activities, hormones, and genetics, eating unprocessed foods high in protein with little to no sugars will help you stay fit and healthy. Alcohol, while it may help get you in the mood for sex, is a depressant. Its effects will peak and fall, making you tired and less able to perform. Replacing alcohol with alternatives like cannabis, cacao or even micro-dosed psychedelics can elevate your senses, mood, and help drop you into pleasure.
Tip: Dial in healthy living, know what you are putting in your body and track and react.
MOVE YOUR BODY. Improving and increasing orgasmic pleasure comes with movement. Feel into your body and breathe. Start slow and build on activities you enjoy; daily steps, dance, yoga, pilates, weight training, pickleball, sex... Create a routine and stick to it. While it may be hard to get started you will only get better with practice. Yes, you can burn calories with sex. Incorporate it into your fitness routine, even 15 minutes can increase your heart rate, open neurotransmitters and blast dopamine and endorphins throughout your body.
Tip: Track your movement and sleep to build healthy routines and practice daily oOrgasm!.
FREE YOUR MIND. For women especially, orgasmic pleasure is mental. Find ways to free your mind and elevate your senses. Intentional breathing and meditation are both ways to open your mind to pleasure. Cannabis, dosed correctly and used with intention, can help lower inhibitions, increase arousal, and help you drop into pleasure. Set the mood and create a space free from clutter and the noise from your day. Lean into your senses by dialing in the music, soft lighting, your smell and taste. Nothing will keep you in or, conversely, take you out of the mood quite like your senses reacting adversely to your space.

MAKE TIME, SHOW UP and practice, practice, practice. Experience matters. Getting started is often the hardest part. Once you decide to build orgasmic pleasure into your day the benefits will surely keep you coming back for more. Life will get in the way. Sexual pleasure is not always spontaneous, but responsive. That's ok. This means you may need to schedule it, plan for it. Practice by yourself and, if available create opportunities to share pleasures with your partner(s).
Tip: Take a few extra minutes each day to satisfy your orgasmic self. You may start by including self pleasure into your bath time routine.
Changing how you think about and practice pleasure may not come easy but it is worth it.
If this helps you prioritize orgasmic pleasure please share (repost) to others. We all need something to distract ourselves. I know I will be shagging my way through the next 4 years and we can all use ALL the help we can get.
